TEXAS HILL COUNTRY FLY FISHERS
Bob Henke Memorial Measure 2 Tourney
This annual tournament is usually held in March of each year. BHMM2 is a timed team event where each team consists of 2 fishermen or fisherwomen.
Though each fisherman may catch as many fish as desired each person may only record 2 of the fish caught for a maximum of 4 fish per team. When any team member has recorded two fish that person must cease fishing.
Teams rotate to the next beat every 45 minutes along a set course until all teams have fished all beats or until a team has recorded 4 fish. The team with the most total inches wins. Thus, four 12 inch fish beat one 22 inch fish. There are awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
Check the EVENT CALENDAR for the exact date and event registration.
Bob Henke, HCFF/FFFC member 2004-2007, exemplified the volunteer spirit from the time he joined the club at the invitation of Martin Pursch.
Bob was very friendly, welcomed all opportunities to help out, and loved to learn and teach fly-fishing with his fly-fishing “tribe”.
He also shared his love of fly-fishing with his son Jeff, with whom he proudly won 3rd place in the Measure 2 Tourney in 2005.
After Henke passed away in 2007, his love for fishing and commitment to the HCFF/FFFC club was honored with the renaming of the Bob Henke Memorial Measure 2 Tournament.
In 2021 the Hill Country Fly Fishers and the Fredericksburg Fly Fishers Club(HCFF/FFFC) combined forces to become the TEXAS HILL COUNTRY FLY FISHERS.
